Gastric Bypass Group meets tonight

PLATTSBURGH -- The Plattsburgh Gastric Bypass surgery support group meeting will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the United Way Building on the Tom Miller Road. For more information, call Gloria Durivage at 493-3593.

Essex County sets September clinics

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Well Child Clinics during September, conducted by the Essex County Public Health Department, will begin on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ticonderoga Health Center. Another session will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Essex County Public Health in Elizabethtown. An immunization-only clinic is set for 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga. There is no charge up to age 19, but there are fees for adult immunizations. No appointment is needed for immunizations, but for information, to make an appointment for a Well Child Clinic or lead screening, call 873-3500.

Blood-pressure clinics on Thursday

PORT HENRY -- The Essex County Public Health Department will hold two blood-pressure clinics Thursday: at the Lee House in Port Henry at 10 a.m. and at 11 a.m. at the Port Henry Nutrition Site at the Railroad Station in Port Henry.

Clinton County holds clinics in September

PLATTSBURGH -- The Clinton County Health Department offers immunizations for all ages as well as lead screening for children and confidential and anonymous HIV testing. Here are the dates coming up.

Immunizations take place at the Old Court House, 32 Court St., Plattsburgh, on Mondays -- Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29 -- from 12:30 to 3:15 p.m. and every Thursday in September from 1 to 3:15 p.m.

Also, there will be immunization clinics: today and Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Clinton Community College's Science and Technology Building and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the Old Court House.

A Well Child Clinic is set for 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Old Court House.

A lead-screening clinic will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16.

HIV testing is set for 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Sept. 18. Call 565-4490 to hear a recorded message 24/7 on immunizations, infectious conditions, family health and seasonal topics or visit www.clintonhealth.org. For specific questions, call 565-4848.

Healing Retreat marks one decade

RAQUETTE LAKE -- For the past 10 years, women living with cancer and other chronic diseases have been traveling to Great Camp Sagamore in the Adirondacks to use the arts, nature and each other to help them heal.
