Lake Placid School Board to meet
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Central School Board of Education will be holding a reorganizational meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Administrative Services Center, 50 Cummings Road in Lake Placid.

Other agenda items include discussing the Elementary School handbook and mission statement.

The meeting is open to the public.

Saranac School Board meeting set
SARANAC — Saranac Central School Board has scheduled its reorganization meeting for 6:30 p.m. Monday at the District Office in Dannemora.

The board will elect a president and vice president, make appointments and establish meeting dates for the upcoming school year.

The regular meeting will follow, with a school lunch report, extracurricular-activities report and an Internal Claims Audit report.

The public may attend.

Naturalization ceremony set for Friday
PLATTSBURGH — A Clinton County Supreme Court Naturalization Ceremomy will be held at 11 a.m. Friday on the second floor of the George Moore Academic Building on the Clinton Community College campus in Plattsburgh.

About 25 new citizens will be sworn in.

Acting Supreme Court Justice Kevin K. Ryan will preside over the ceremony. Guest speakers include Assemblywoman Janet L. Duprey and Clinton County Clerk John H. Zurlo.

Girls and Boy Scouts from local troops will take part in the proceedings.

Rachel Fuller from Beekmantown Central High School will be singing the national anthem and "God Bless America," accompanied by pianist Jay LeSage.

Refreshments will be available.

Pearsall grant applications sought
JOHNSBURG — The trustees of the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation are accepting grant applications for the 2009-10 grant cycle.

Applications will be accepted from July 1 to Aug. 30, with grants awarded in October.

The private foundation was founded in 2000, dedicated to "improving the quality of life for year-round residents of the Adirondack Park."

Nonprofit organizations serving the Adirondack Region may receive an application through the Pearsall Foundation Web site, www.Pearsallfoundation.org, or by writing the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation, P.O. Box 105, Johnsburg, NY 12843.
