Gillibrand gives birth to another son

LAKE PLACID -- Kirsten Gillibrand, New York's District 20 congresswoman, had a baby boy Thursday.

Aides in Washington, D.C., said Henry Nelson Gillibrand, at 7 pounds, 14 ounces and 20 inches, was born at Bethesda Naval Medical Center in Maryland.

He is the second child for Gillibrand and her husband, Jonathan. They have a son, Theo, who is 4.

Mother and baby were both healthy and resting comfortably, spokeswoman Rachel McEneny said.

Gillibrand, only the sixth woman to give birth while serving in Congress, had a busy few days before delivery, sponsoring new legislation requiring a handbook for veteran's benefits, helping write a new farm bill and voting to lower the price of gasoline.

Gillibrand, a Democrat, is up for re-election this year, with three candidates facing off for the Republican challenge in September's primary.
