Police Log: Nov. 26, 2012 — Structure fire

FORT COVINGTON — Five U.S fire departments responded to a structure fire at an unoccupied seasonal home in Dundee, Quebec, at 2:28 Sunday morning. According to county fire officials, fire departments from Fort Covington, Bombay, Westville, Akwasasne and Hogansburg all responded to the scene to provide assistance. Fort Covington Fire Chief Lynden Greene estimated that dozens of firefighters battled the blaze for nearly two and a half hours using 30,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. The house, he said, was a total loss. The Quebec Provincial Police are currently investigating cause of the fire. The Fort Covington Fire Department contracts with the Town of Dundee for their fire protection.
