SARANAC LAKE — A Saranac Lake man was arrested Thursday on felony charges.
Someone allegedly stole two checks from a residence in Saranac Lake, according to Saranac Lake Police Department Chief Bruce Nason.
On July 12 and 13, Matthew J. Taylor, 29, was found to be in possession of these checks, which were forged, Nason said. Taylor gave a false written statement to police regarding the incident on Oct. 19, he said.
Taylor was arrested at 6 p.m. at the Saranac Lake Police Department and charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony, and two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Taylor was also charged with making a punishable false written statement, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Saranac Lake Village Court and released to the supervision of a probation officer.
