Altona man gets probation for promoting child porn

PLATTSBURGH — An Altona man was sentenced to 10 years of probation for promoting Internet child pornography.

Samuel Andrusia, 40, pleaded guilty to promoting a sexual performance by a child younger than 17 and was sentenced recently in Clinton County Court by Judge Kevin Ryan.

Andrusia must register with the state as a Level 1 sex offender, according to the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office. He was also ordered to pay $1,425 in court fees and surcharges.

Andrusia downloaded commercial movies and pornography files from two online networks on his home computer in April, State Police told the Press-Republican soon after his arrest.

The State Police Computer Crimes Unit investigated the illegal activity.

In addition to the charge to which he pleaded guilty, Andrusia was originally charged with possession of a sexual performance by a child, a felony.
