CHAZY — A Chazy man was arrested on felony weapon assault charges Oct. 27.
State Police were called to a residence at 9324 State Route 9 at 1:53 a.m. An argument involving William Gillespie, 37, and his mother’s boyfriend, Bradford W. Durross Jr., 43, had allegedly resulted in Gillespie striking Durross in the head with a wooden boat oar. According to police, Durross sustained a concussion and a 1-inch laceration to the back of his head and was transported to CVPH where he was treated and released.
Gillespie was charged with assault with a weapon with an intent to cause physical injury, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon with an intent to use it, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned in Chazy Town Court before Justice Robert Dunlop and is being held at Clinton County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail. Gillespie is scheduled to reappear in court Nov. 20.
