PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged with criminal mischief following an alleged domestic dispute Wednesday.
Investigation into an altercation between Timothy Hill, 27, and a woman he knows revealed that the dispute, which happened near the parking lot of the old Mobil station on Miller Street in Plattsburgh, escalated when he slapped the woman’s iPhone 5 out of her hand while she was trying to call for help, Plattsburgh City Police said.
The phone hit the ground and stopped working, police said.
Hill then grabbed the woman’s arms, forcing them around her chest, maintaining his grip until concerned neighbors became aware of the situation, police said.
Officers located Hill on Bridge Street soon after the incident, police said.
He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony; fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor; and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, a misdemeanor.
Hill was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court at 11 p.m. Wednesday and was sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond, police said.
