---- — PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged with drunken driving Aug. 6 after he crashed his vehicle, injuring himself, police said.
Eric A. Martin, 23, of Chazy was driving a sedan when it crashed, State Police said.
He was not wearing a seat belt, police said, and he was the only one in the 2004 Honda Civic when it crashed in the early morning hours of Aug. 6.
At the accident site, CVPH Medical Center EMTs and representatives from the South Plattsburgh Volunteer Fire Department attended to Martin, who had minor cuts to his head.
A trooper detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Martin’s breath and he failed field sobriety tests, police said.
Martin was taken to CVPH for further treatment of his injuries, police said, and a sample of his blood was taken and sent to the New York State Police laboratory in Albany for analysis.
After his release from the hospital, Martin reported to the State Police barracks in Plattsburgh and was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, moving from a lane unsafely, an infraction, and a seat belt violation.
Additional tickets are pending the blood sample analysis.
