Police Log: March 18, 2013 — Felony arrests

PLATTSBURGH — Two Plattsburgh men were accused of possessing stolen checks.

According to Plattsburgh-based State Police, checks that had been reported stolen from an apartment in Plattsburgh at 11:16 a.m. Feb. 27 were used at Community Bank in Walmart and Rock’s Grocery on March 8 and 9.

Police said an investigation led them to believe that Keith T. Labombard, 16, and Chad M. Provost, 22, had been in possession of the checks used at those locations.

Labombard was arrested March 11 in the Town of Plattsburgh and charged with two counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, a class-D felony.

He was arraigned in Town Court the same day and released on his own recognizance to reappear in court at a later date.

Provost was arrested March 14 at the Clinton County Jail, where he was being bailed out on previous charges, according to police.

Upon his arrest, Provost was charged with three counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, as well as three counts of petit larceny, a class-A misdemeanor.

In addition, Provost was charged with one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property in connection with recovered property that had also been stolen from the same residence, police said.

He was arraigned in Town Court and remanded to County Jail on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.

No further information was available Sunday.
