CHESTERFIELD — A Schuylerville man was charged Aug. 3 with a felony tax law violation.
At 10:08 a.m. on Interstate 87 southbound, Valcour-based State Police stopped a vehicle driven by Robert E. Walsh, 58, for speeding, Plattsburgh-based State Police said.
Upon interviewing Walsh, troopers learned that he had 57 cartons of untaxed cigarettes in his vehicle, police said.
Walsh was arrested at 10:55 a.m. and was charged with possession or transporting 10,000 or more unstamped cigarettes, a felony.
He was released on an appearance ticket for 10 a.m. Aug. 12 in Chesterfield Town Court, police said.
