Plattsburgh man charged with burglary, unlawful imprisonment

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was arrested Feb. 8 in connection with an alleged domestic dispute.

Daniel Roeser, 24, had a disagreement with the victim — with whom he had previously been in a relationship — when he saw her at a bar in downtown Plattsburgh early that morning, Plattsburgh City Police Capt. Michael Branch said.

The woman told police she left the bar and returned to her apartment on Broad Street in Plattsburgh.

At about 4 a.m., she heard a knock on her bedroom door, she said in a statement to City Police.

Roeser forced his way into her apartment and then into her bedroom, Branch said, and grabbed the woman’s arms and would not let her go.

He eventually left, the police captain said, and the woman locked the door and notified some friends, who came to her apartment.

When police arrived, they saw broken glass and blood on the front door, Branch said.

Roeser was arrested that afternoon and charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.

Roeser was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court and sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

He posted bail Saturday, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.

An order of protection for the woman was issued by Plattsburgh City Court Judge John F. Niles.

Roeser is due to appear in Plattsburgh City Court on March 13.
