Alex Velez, 30, of Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted promoting prison contraband and was sentenced to one and one half to three years imprisonment as a second-felony offender, stemming from a June 2012 incident. The sentence will be served consecutive to any other sentences. Velez was ordered to provide a DNA sample and pay the associated fee and a $375 surcharge.
Dillon J. West, 26 of AuSable pleaded guilty to aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, endangering the welfare of a child and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years probation, stemming from a February 2012 incident. West was ordered to pay $4,000 in fines and a $570 surcharge. West was also ordered to provide a DNA sample and pay the DNA sample fee. He must also use an ignition interlock device. West’s probation was transferred to Essex County.
Sentencings handed down by Clinton County Judge Kevin Ryan:
Tyrone Doward, 41, of Plattsburgh pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree attempted assault and second-degree menacing and was sentenced, as a second felony offender, to two to four years for the felony and one year for each misdemeanor with all counts concurrent, stemming from an August 2012 incident. Doward was ordered to pay surcharges and provide a DNA sample and pay the DNA sample fee.
Brandon L. Martineau, 21, of Peru pleaded guilty to three counts of third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance and was sentenced to three years determinate and two years post-release supervision with shock directive, stemming from an incident for which he was arrested in August 2012. Martineau paid $210 in restitution and must pay $100 in surcharges, provide a DNA sample and pay the DNA sample fee. His license was suspended.
