PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly stole an assortment of merchandise from Big Apple Audio.
Plattsburgh City Police charged Marcel Bibeau Jr., 45, of Plattsburgh with third-degree grand larceny after he allegedly took more than $3,000 worth of expensive equipment from the Plattsburgh business, where he used to work.
Authorities believe Bibeau stole several items, including car starters, a marine radio and a global-positioning system.
Bibeau remained in police custody Tuesday night awaiting arraignment in Plattsburgh City Court Wednesday.
Authorities could not release further details about the case Tuesday as the investigation continued.
ELIZABETHTOWN — A man was sentenced to prison time for stealing jewelry.
Judge Richard B. Meyer sentenced Michael Durham, 37, to two to four years in state prison since he is a second felony offender, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office said in a press release.
The court also entered a Willard recommendation and ordered Durham to pay restitution, a DNA sample fee, a surcharge and a crime victim’s fee.
Durham pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, for stealing jewelry while he was in the home of people he was acquainted with, according to the DA’s Office.
The DA’s Office did not provide Meyer’s town of residence.
