PERU — A Peru man was arrested for allegedly receiving improper unemployment benefits.
The Clinton County District Attorney’s Office announced William J. Duprey, 41, was arrested Dec. 21 and charged with third-degree grand larceny, first-degree filing a false business record and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, all felonies.
The charges stem from allegations Duprey allegedly received $5,125 in unemployment benefits to which he was not entitled by offering false information to the New York State Department of Labor.
He is represented by Attorney Allan Cruikshank and is scheduled to appear in Peru Town Court on Feb. 4.
Assistant District Attorney Jason Marx has been assigned to prosecute the case.
