PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged Saturday with assault.
Daniel O’Meara, 25, was in a fight with his girlfriend at a residence in the City of Plattsburgh, Plattsburgh City Police said.
O’Meara allegedly shoved the woman backward and she was knocked unconscious after she struck the bathtub behind her, police said.
When she awoke, O’Meara was gone and she went to recline on the couch, police said.
When O’Meara returned, he pulled his girlfriend off the couch, punched her in the face and slammed her into a coffee table, police said.
O’Meara was arrested on Oak Street at 4 a.m., according to a City Police blotter entry.
He was charged with second-degree assault, a felony.
The woman was taken to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh and was later transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt., for treatment of injuries, police said.
She has since been released from the hospital, police said.
O’Meara was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court and was sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.
