PIERCEFIELD — A New York man was injured in a one-car accident Friday.
Shortly before 11:41 p.m., James T. Keefe, 33, of East Amherst was driving a 2005 Volkswagen Passat southeast on Route 3 in the Town of Piercefield when his vehicle exited the southwestern shoulder of the road and struck a ditch, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.
Keefe then attempted to steer out of the ditch and struck a rock next to the ditch and his vehicle became airborne, landing on its roof in the southeast lane of the road, Fleishman said.
Keefe was taken to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for injuries to his hands and arms, she said.
He told police he fell asleep at the wheel, she said.
No tickets were issued.
