PLATTSBURGH — A Morrisonville man was charged March 28 with criminal possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop, police said.
At about 10:13 p.m., police pulled over a vehicle driven by Ricky Lamberton, 58, for traffic infractions, Plattsburgh City Police said.
The officer detected the odor of alcohol on Lamberton and observed signs of impairment, police said.
Lamberton failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated, police said.
During processing, officers found a folded piece of paper on Lamberton with a powdery substance inside that tested positive for cocaine, police said.
Lamberton was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, misdemeanor DWI and four traffic infractions: failure to keep right, unsafe lane change, failure to signal a turn and a safety belt violation.
No further information was available Wednesday.
