PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged Jan. 20 with possession of stolen property and grand larceny.
Benjamin Vanvalkenburg, 20, stole a camouflage 1996 Geo Tracker from the Durkee Street parking lot in the City of Plattsburgh, Plattsburgh City Police said.
The owner reported it stolen the next morning and saw someone driving the car in the area, police said.
Vanvalkenburg had stolen license plates from another vehicle and put them on the car, police said.
New York State Police located the vehicle in a trailer park off of Military Turnpike and aided City Police into the investigation of the stolen license plates, police said.
Vanvalkenburg was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies.
He was arraigned and sent to Clinton County Jail.
