Crown Point man charged with four counts of rape

CROWN POINT — A Crown Point man has been charged with four counts of rape for allegedly having sex with two underage girls.

Last month, Andrew D. Burrows, 21, was charged with third-degree rape, a felony, after police learned he had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl in the Town of Moriah, said Lewis-based State Police Troop B Bureau of Criminal Investigation Investigator Ronald Husner.

Burrows was arraigned and sent to Essex County Jail after his arrest, he said.

MORE RAPE CHARGES

Then, on Friday, Husner said, continuing investigation revealed that Burrows had raped a 15-year-old girl on three separate occasions in three towns.

Burrows was charged with three counts of third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

According to a State Police blotter entry, he was arrested Friday afternoon at 302 Pearl St. in the Town of Crown Point.

Husner said Burrows knew his victims.

In the case of the two teens, the charges of third-degree rape were filed because Burrows, being 21 years old, had sexual intercourse with a person who is younger than 17, the investigator said.

In both cases, a family member of the victims reported the incidents, Husner said.

“The investigation is continuing. There are possibly other victims.”

Burrows remained in Essex County Jail on Tuesday in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond, according to the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office had no information about any scheduled court dates for Burrows.

PREVIOUS FELONY CHARGES

In addition to the rape charges, Burrows has been arrested on felony charges at least three times in the past few years.

In January 2012, Ticonderoga Police served Burrows with a warrant charging him with three counts of criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Police said Burrows stole a family member’s debit card and used it to make purchases at several locations.
