TICONDEROGA — A Ticonderoga man was charged with welfare fraud and filing a false instrument.
Shawn Johndrow, 36, of Ticonderoga was charged with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and fourth-degree welfare fraud, both felonies.
Johndrow allegedly obtained $1,755 in SNAP (food stamp) benefits by failing to report income, according to a press release from the Department of Social Services.
The arrest was the result of an investigation by the Essex County Department of Social Service Fraud Investigation Unit with Ticonderoga Police arresting Johndrow, the release said.
He will be arraigned on Sept. 5 before Elizabethtown Town Justice William Garrison.
