---- — CHAMPLAIN — The death of a Plattsburgh who crashed his car in Champlain Wednesday is due to natural causes, not to injuries from the accident, police said.

An autopsy at CVPH Medical Center Thursday afternoon determined Francis P. Parrish, 67, of Plattsburgh died of coronary artery disease, said State Police Sgt. Robert Mesick.

At about 11:45 a.m., State Police were called to a one-car motor vehicle accident on Prospect Street in Champlain, said State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman.

Upon arrival, police found Champlain EMS performing CPR on Parrish, she said.

Police determined Parrish was driving a 2007 Dodge Caravan eastbound on Prospect Street when he drove off the south shoulder of the road and struck a reflective post and then a group of trees, Fleishman said.

Parrish was pronounced dead at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh Wednesday, she said.

Parrish was the sole occupant of his vehicle and no other cars were involved in the accident, Fleishman said.
