---- — PLATTSBURGH — A Mooers man was arrested on a felony charge for allegedly making a false threat.
Michael B. Garrand, 56, was arrested after a employee at Huntley Trucking in Cadyville called Dannemora-based State Police at about 9:00 a.m. Sept. 10 to report an alleged bomb threat there.
Garrand allegedly brought his vehicle to the business and told one of the employees not to touch the car because it was wired for an explosion.
He was arrested at about 10:45 a.m. Sept. 19 and charged with second-degree falsely reporting an incident.
Police reports did not specify when Garrand was due in court to face the felony charge.
LAKE PLACID — Police arrested a Lake Placid man on a suspected arson charge.
George J. Peck, Jr. was arrested at about 10:31 p.m. Sept. 23 as a result of an investigation into a fire at the Northwoods Inn on Main Street three days earlier, according to a statement from the Lake Placid Police Department.
At about 11:53 p.m. Sept 20, the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department was called to a reported structure fire where they discovered flames in the foyer area of apartments that are attached to the Inn.
Police said that while flames were kept under control, smoke did damage the building and fire officials at the scene deemed the blaze as suspicious in nature.
Upon further investigation, officials determined Peck allegedly set the fire on purpose and put numerous people’s lives in danger.
He was charged with second-degree arson, a felony. Peck was also charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.
Peck was processed and then arraigned before being remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or bail bond.
The police statement did not specify when he is due back in court.
