Two charged in Brushton burglary

---- — BRUSHTON— Two men face burglary charges in the theft of a video-game console and games.

Michael C. Brown, 24, of Brushton and Robert L. McGuinness, 31, of Oswegatchie broke into a home at 318 Chandler Road in Brushton and stole an Xbox and several Xbox games, according to Malone-based State Police.

The burglary was reported by the owner of the residence at 4:41 p.m. June 12, according to police.

Brown was arrested at 4:10 p.m. Nov. 23 following an interview with police at the Malone State Police barracks. 

He was charged with second-degree burglary of a dwelling, a felony.

Released under the supervision of a probation officer, Brown is due to reappear in Moira Town Court at 3 p.m. Dec. 19.

Police said they were able to recover some of the stolen property from McGuinness’s residence.

He was taken into custody at 10 Brown Falls Road in the Town of Fine at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30. He was also charged with second-degree burglary of a dwelling.

McGuinness was arraigned in Moira Town Court and sent to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bail.

By Wednesday night, McGuinness had posted bail and had been released, according to State Police.
