Bicyclist released from hospital

PLATTSBURGH — Jason Wickline, who suffered injuries to his head and face when his bicycle struck a car on Route 3 on Tuesday evening, was discharged on Wednesday from CVPH Medical Center after treatment there.

At about 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, the Plattsburgh man, 40, was riding his bike on the sidewalk along Route 3 near Consumer Square in the Town of Plattsburgh, according to a press release from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.

It was pouring rain at the time, Lt. Michael Reid told the Press-Republican.

He said it appeared Wickline didn’t see a car turning off Route 3 in front of him, heading into the parking lot of a business there, and his bike hit the vehicle on the driver’s side.

Carrie Champine, 39, of Keeseville was behind the wheel of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The business located at the spot, 386 Route 3, is Cheechako Taco.

Wickline, with serious injuries, was taken by ambulance to CVPH by CVPH EMS.

He was not wearing a helmet, Reid said.

Charges were pending, he said.
