DANNEMORA — A Dannemora man was charged with drunken driving Saturday.
At about 11:40 p.m., Plattsburgh-based State Police stopped a red Subaru on Standish Road in Dannemora for speeding, State Police said in a news release.
The driver, John R. Luebbers, 40, didn’t stop for police and proceeded west on Standish Road, leading the trooper into the Town of Saranac where the vehicle turned onto Wolf Pond Road, police said.
The pursuit continued onto Piney Ridge Road in the Town of Bellmont, police said.
Luebbers stopped at the intersection of Piney Ridge Road and Standish Road in the Town of Saranac, police said.
He was found to be intoxicated and troopers determined his blood-alcohol content to be 0.16 percent, police said.
Luebbers was charged with felony driving while intoxicated because he was convicted of DWI in the past 10 years, police said.
He was also charged with third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, a misdemeanor, and numerous traffic infractions including failure to obey a police officer, speeding, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to keep right, failure to signal a turn and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Luebbers was arraigned in Plattsburgh Town Court and was released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in Saranac Town Court on Oct. 17.
