PERU — A Peru man was arrested on charges of felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
A woman called 911 just after midnight Jan. 11 and was screaming for help when the call was cut off, Ray Brook-based State Police said.
A verbal argument had started in the bedroom of the woman’s Peru residence between she and Donald A. Lamere, 49, police said.
The incident escalated with Lamere allegedly pinning the woman between a chair and a china cabinet, police said.
According to police, Lamere left the residence after the incident.
The woman was transported to CVPH to be examined, police said.
Lamere was arrested soon after the incident and was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon with previous conviction, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
As of Saturday, Lamere was not incarcerated in the Clinton County Jail, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
His court information was not available Saturday.
