LAKE PLACID — A Lake Placid man is facing multiple felony charges of possession of child pornography.
The Lake Placid Police Department was advised of possible computer transmittal of child pornography and served a warrant on 26-year-old Scott A. Premo Jr.
Lake Placid Police Sergeant Chuck Dobson said the investigation was conducted in conjunction with the State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
“State Police developed information that child pornography was being transmitted and/or possessed from a specific IP (Internet provider) address and, in a joint investigation, we developed other leads that led to a search warrant,” Dobson said Thursday.
“We served a search warrant on the defendant’s residence in Lake Placid.”
Dobson said they arrested Premo Monday at 11:55 a.m. on felony charges of promoting a sexual performance of a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.
Police seized 15 items from Premo’s residence, including computer equipment.
Premo was processed at the Lake Placid police station and arraigned in village court.
He was remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond and will return to court for a felony hearing.
