---- — PLATTSBURGH — A Saranac man was charged April 5 with criminal contempt.
A stay-away order legally prohibits David E. Benson, 26, from being in the presence of a female and two children, Plattsburgh-based State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Investigator Larry Cragle said.
On April 2, Benson allegedly approached the female and an uninvolved male and pushed the male while they were in the 99 Restaurant in Plattsburgh, Cragle said.
Benson was arrested April 5 and was charged with first-degree criminal contempt.
He was arraigned in Peru Town Court and sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Benson was due to appear in Plattsburgh Town Court yesterday.
