WAVERLY — A Dickinson Center man and a teenager riding in his vehicle were injured in a one-car accident Tuesday.
Joseph D. Arno, 18, was driving a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire westbound on Cook Road in the Town of Waverly when he lost control and struck a snow embankment of the south shoulder of the roadway, State Police said in a news release.
Arno’s vehicle overturned, police said, and he and a 15-year-old female passenger were taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone for treatment of minor injuries.
The teen was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.
The two other passengers in the car were Rachel A. Arno, 16, of Dickinson Center and Megan N. LePage, 16, of St. Regis Falls.
Troopers found a bottle of vodka inside the vehicle but their investigation found that neither Arno nor his passengers had consumed any of the alcohol, police said.
Arno was ticketed unsafe speed, open container of alcohol and for the passenger’s seatbelt violation. He was also cited for unlawful possession of alcohol by a person younger than 21, a violation.
He is due in Waverly Town Court on April 15.
