Police Log: May 10, 2013 — Felony arrest

---- — MOOERS — A Mooers man was charged with car theft after allegedly taking his girlfriend’s vehicle without permission and crashing it, police said.

On April 19, Jason R. King, 35, of Mooers moved his girlfriend’s 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser from a lane unsafely while he was driving on State Route 11 in the Town of Mooers at about 12:30 a.m., according to Chazy-based State Police.

His vehicle left the roadway, struck a sign and overturned, police said.

King was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration of more than 0.08 percent with a prior offense, a felony; first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony; driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; moving from a lane unsafely, an infraction; and driving without a license, an infraction.

He was arraigned in Mooers Town Court was sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $500 cash or $1,000 bond.

King was arrested while he was in jail and was arraigned May 2 on a felony third-degree grand larceny charge, since he had taken his girlfriend’s car without permission, police said.

He was taken back to Clinton County Jail and remained incarcerated there Thursday in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

King will reappear in court at a later date, police said.
