Police Log: Jan. 12, 2013 — Felony arrest

MINERVA — A Minerva man was charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana Jan. 8. 

At about 4:52 p.m., State Police arrested David R. Blackburn, 30, following an investigation of a domestic dispute between Blackburn and a family member, according to a State Police news release.

During the investigation of the dispute, Blackburn was found to be growing marijuana inside his residence, police said. 

About 6 pounds of marijuana was seized from the residence, along with about $5,400 in cash. The money was turned over to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

Blackburn was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony; second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor; second-degree harassment, a violation; and unlawfully growing cannabis, a violation of the Public Health Law, police reported. 

He was arraigned at the Town of Minerva Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond. Blackburn is to reappear in court 7 p.m. Jan 13.
