PLATTSBURGH — A woman was arrested for allegedly trying to steal over $1,000 of goods from Kmart, according to Plattsburgh-based State Police.
Heather A. Collins, 31, of Plattsburgh, was arrested on at 9 a.m. on Friday and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, police reported.
The alleged crime was reported at 3:52 p.m. on Tuesday.
State Police said that Collins allegedly entered Kmart, filled a shopping cart with 68 items, and then tried to leave the store with the shopping cart to load the items into a vehicle. Security ordered her to stop, and she abandoned the items and fled in the vehicle, according to State Police.
During the investigation, State Police said, they identified Collins through video footage.
Collins was arraigned in Beekmantown Town Court before Judge Castine and was sent to jail in lieu of $2500 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Town of Plattsburgh Court on Jan. 7.
