PLATTSBURGH — Two West Chazy women were arrested Dec. 6 following an alleged shoplifting incident.
A manager at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Champlain Centre Plattsburgh saw two women walking together in the store at about 9 p.m. Dec. 2, Plattsburgh-based State Police said.
One of the women, later identified as Casey J. Desrocher, 34, took three pairs of Nike socks and concealed them in a stroller she was pushing, police said.
A small child was sitting in the stroller, police said.
Desrocher went to a register and purchased a few items with a gift card and returned to the sales floor after the transaction, police said.
The manager continued to observe her as she ripped the security tags off three North Face jackets and a cap, causing damage to the items, police said.
She hid two of the jackets in the bag where the cashier had placed her purchased items and hid the other jacket in the stroller, police said.
Ten items were confiscated from Desrocher, five of which had the security tags removed, police said.
Desrocher was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony; sixth-degree conspiracy, a misdemeanor, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor, police said.
She was arraigned in Plattsburgh Town Court and released on her own recognizance, police said.
Kayla M. Carroll, 26, was charged with petit larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
