CHAMPLAIN — A New Orleans man was charged with criminal possession of a weapon Thursday.
Alessandro D. Henderson, 25, was attempting to cross the border from the United States into Canada when he was found with a KelTec handgun and a switchblade knife, Plattsburgh-based State Police said.
Henderson was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and was turned over to State Police, police said.
His charges are second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (loaded firearm), a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
He was then released on his own recognizance to appear in Plattsburgh Town Court at a later date.
