---- — PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged with felony unlicensed operation, driving while intoxicated and numerous traffic violations Sunday morning.
Cody A. Sample, 25, was arrested at 1:48 a.m. on Pine Street during a traffic stop after police observed his vehicle allegedly fail to stop for a stop sign on Durkee Street. Plattsburgh-based State Police also said they observed Sample fail to signal his turn and, after turning, he allegedly pulled into the oncoming traffic lane.
During the traffic stop Sample showed signs of intoxication and failed subsequent field sobriety tests, police said. A breathalyzer test at the station found his blood alcohol content to be 0.09 percent. A check of his license revealed that his license has been suspended 18 times, stemming from seven different incidents, according to police.
Sample was charged with a safety glass equipment violation for illegally tinted windows; an equipment violation for the exhaust system; a license plate violation for a missing front plate; first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony; second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; driving on the left side of the road on a crest grade; unsafe movement of a stopped motor vehicle; illegal signaling; failure to stop at a stop sign; first offense of driving while intoxicated; and a first offense of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content over 0.08 percent.
Sample was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court on Sunday morning and is not being held at the Clinton County Jail. No further information is available.
