PLATTSBURGH — A New York man was charged with possession of a weapon and drugs Aug. 5.
Christian Crannell, 36, of Greenfield Center, N.Y., and Richard G. Guastella, 32, were stopped by Plattsburgh City Police for a traffic stop when the two men exited their vehicle and fled officers on foot, Plattsburgh City Police said.
They were located in the parking lot of Georgia Pacific, police said.
When police searched Crannell, they found 22 wax envelopes containing a light-brown-colored powder substance that tested positive for heroin, police said.
Officers also found brass-colored metal knuckles on Crannell, police said.
He was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; and trespassing, a violation.
Guastella was charged with trespassing.
State Police are investigating the possible theft of two speakers that were found packaged in their original boxes, City Police said.
Crannell and Guastella may be connected to the theft, police said.
