PORT HENRY — Two teenagers were arrested for allegedly burglarizing a home in Port Henry and stealing cash and jewelry.
Moriah Town Police said Anthony Lee Smith, 19, of Moriah and Jonathan Martinez, 19, of Witherbee are both charged with felony second-degree burglary.
In addition, Martinez was charged with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and criminal possession of marijuana, a violation.
Smith was arraigned Tuesday and Martinez on Wednesday, both in Moriah Town Court.
Martinez was sent to the Essex County Jail for lack of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bail bond, while Smith was jailed when he couldn’t pay $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bail bond.
Moriah Office-in-Charge Steve Stahl said the pair is accused of going to a home on Brook Street in Port Henry that Smith was familiar with, breaking in and taking beer, women’s jewelry and about $150 in cash on June 18.
Stahl said some of the jewelry was recovered. Moriah Police were assisted by Deputy Robert Rice of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.
PLATTSBURGH — A pregnant woman was taken to the hospital following a car accident June 13.
Lance Brown, 34, of Peabody, Mass., was stopped on Cornelia Street in the City of Plattsburgh near Dunkin Donuts when a car driven by Richard Pierce, 24, of Peru struck the back of Brown’s vehicle, Plattsburgh City Police Lt. Scott Beebie said.
Jill Brown, 32, a passenger in Lance’s vehicle, was taken to CVPH Medical Center as a precaution since she is pregnant, Beebie said.
Pierce was ticketed for following too closely.
SARANAC — A Peru man was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated following a car accident June 11.
Joshua A. Thew, 36, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. and was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, moving from a lane unsafely, a violation, and unreasonable speed during special hazard, a violation, according to a news release from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.
The one-car accident was on State Route 3 in the Town of Saranac.
Both occupants of the car were taken to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh for treatment of injuries, the Sheriff’s Department said.
He was released on an appearance ticket.
