PORT HENRY — Two people were charged with prohibited sale of alcohol to an underage person Tuesday after a State Police sting in Essex County.
An underage volunteer entered six businesses and attempted to buy alcohol, State Police said in a news release.
Carlo F. Calabrese, 19, of Moriah and Rubina Shaheen, 44, of Crown Point were both charged with prohibited sale of alcohol to a person younger than 21, a misdemeanor.
Calabrese sold the alcohol at Boyea’s Store on Plank Road in Moriah Center. The manager there declined to comment on the arrest.
Shaheen works at the Mobil Station on Main Street in Port Henry. The manager there could not be reached Thursday.
The stores found to be in compliance with the state’s Alcohol Beverage Control Law in this underage-drinking initiative were the Grover Hills Deli in Mineville and three Port Henry establishments, Stewart’s Shop, Celotti’s Wine and Spirits and Mac’s Market.
A similar sting in Clinton County on Oct. 20 yielded eight arrests.
