Two meth arrests made

WEST CHAZY — A married couple were arrested Wednesday on meth-related charges.

Travis A. Bruce, 36, was arrested when precursors for manufacturing meth were allegedly found at his home at 7415 State Route 22 in West Chazy after an investigation by New York State Police and the Plattsburgh City Police Department.

“No active meth lab was located, but evidence (precursors) was secured that corroborated Bruce was manufacturing meth in the home,” State Police said in a news release.

At least one syringe containing drug residue was found in the home, State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Lt. Brent Davison said from Troop B headquarters in Ray Brook.

Investigation has shown that the residue is “crushed-up prescription medication,” he said.

ENDANGERING CHILD CHARGES

Both Bruce and his wife, Dixie L. Bruce-Wilson, 30, of West Chazy were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

These charges were incurred because police found a syringe in plain view in the home, where the couple’s three children live with them, Davison said.

The children were in the residence at the time of their parents’ arrest, he said, and are now in the care of their maternal grandmother.

Police have no evidence that Bruce was making meth in the front of the children, Davison said.

Bruce and Bruce-Wilson live in the West Chazy home with Bruce’s mother, who owns the residence and who gave police consent to conduct the search, he said.

The New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team responded afterward for cleanup.

Plattsburgh City Police assisted in the investigation.

CHARGES

Bruce was charged with third-degree unlawfully manufacturing methamphetamine, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

Bruce-Wilson was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.
