---- — MOIRA — A Brushton man was charged with forgery Sept. 13.
James R. Jewtraw, 33, allegedly forged his landlord’s signature on a Franklin County Department of Social Services Shelter Verification Form to avoid eviction, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.
Jewtraw was scheduled to be evicted because he had failed to pay rent, Fleishman said.
The incident was originally reported to State Police on July 24, according to a State Police blotter entry.
Jewtraw was charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, both felonies.
He was released into the supervision of the Probation Department to appear in court at a later date.
