CHAMPLAIN — A Champlain man was charged with grand larceny Jan. 16.

Christopher Monette, 51, of Champlain noticed questionable activity to his bank account at a local credit union, according to Chazy-based State Police.

Monette confronted his son, Jeremy Monette, 25, of Champlain, who allegedly admitted to having his father’s bank account information and to transferring more than $1,000 to another account, police said.

The older Monette contacted State Police and a statement was taken from his son.

Jeremy Monette was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

He was arraigned in Town of Champlain Court and admitted to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond and was scheduled to reappear in court Jan. 23.
