MALONE — A local man has been charged with burglary after being identified through DNA evidence, State Police said.
On Saturday, Jan. 25, State Police in Malone tried to arrest 23-year-old Danny S. French of Fort Covington. He fled on foot, State Police said, but was apprehended.
The arrest stems from a burglary investigation reported on July 8, 2013, that occurred at a vacant building on State Route 95 in Moira. The thief forced entry and stole copper piping.
French’s identity was determined through DNA evidence that was found at the site, State Police said Tuesday.
When he was caught, French was found in possession of a small quantity of marijuana, police said.
He was charged with third-degree burglary, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of marijuana.
French was arraigned in Moira Town Court and sent to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
