CHAMPLAIN — A man from Eagen, Minn., was charged with possession of a controlled substance Jan. 17.
Champlain-based U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers reported that driver Ayubi Mohamed, 27, appeared to be impaired, according to a Clinton County Sheriff’s Department news release.
Mohamed’s vehicle was searched and he was allegedly in possession of 244 grams of khat, a controlled substance, the release said.
Mohamed was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in Town of Champlain Court and committed to Clinton County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 bail or $30,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Champlain Court at a later date.
