PERU — Two locals were charged with grand larceny in December 2013.
Rachel A. Preston, 27, of Keeseville and Scott R. Reome, 41, of Plattsburgh cashed approximately 18 checks for about $28,000 that Preston had stolen from Northern Orchard Co. in Peru, where she was an employee, State Police said.
The majority of the stolen checks were cashed at the International Currency Exchange in Champlain Centre mall in the Town of Plattsburgh, police said.
Preston was charged Dec. 15 with third-degree grand larceny and second-degree forgery, both felonies, according to a State Police blotter entry.
She was arraigned in Peru Town Court and sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond, police said.
Reome was charged Dec. 19 with third-degree grand larceny and third-degree possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor, according to the blotter entry.
He was arraigned in Plattsburgh Town Court and sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond.
