NORTH ELBA — A Lake Placid man was charged Dec. 8, 2013 with felony driving while intoxicated.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m., Leland F. Stanton III, 22, was driving a 1998 Dodge van on Wesvalley Road when he drove off the south shoulder of the road and struck a tree, State Police said.
Stanton had fled the scene on foot and was found nearby, police said.
Stanton’s blood-alcohol content was found to be .13 percent, police said, and he was charged with DWI with a previous conviction in the past 10 years, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
He was issued court appearance tickets and traffic tickets charging him with leaving the scene of a property-damage motor vehicle accident, moving from lane unsafely and driving an uninspected motor vehicle.
