PLATTSBURGH — A former Morrisonville man was charged March 6 with grand larceny.
On June 12, 2013, an employee at Dames Rental & Sales Center on Route 3 in the Town of Plattsburgh reported that a man had come into the store, picked up a $1,100 steel chainsaw and walked out of the store without paying for it, State Police said.
The alleged thief, Jeffrey J. Provost, 28, could not be identified for several months but was eventually found to be incarcerated at a state prison in western New York state, police said.
Provost was released from prison on March 6 and was arrested by Fredonia-based State Police, police said.
He was brought back to Clinton County, arraigned in Plattsburgh Town Court and taken to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash or $3,000 bond.
