Police Log: July 12, 2014 — Personal-injury accident

PLATTSBURGH — A Champlain woman was injured in a three-car accident on July 8.

Ashley Arel, 33, was driving north down Margaret Street when she noticed two cars were stopped in front of her.

Diane Hawksby, 56, of Morrisonville, was stopped to make a left turn into a pediatrician's office right before Scomotion Creek Bridge, police said.

Behind her, Plattsburgh resident Keon Jahanbakhsh, 20, was also stopped.

Arel went to apply her brakes, which didn't work, causing her to rear-end Jahanbakhsh's 2012 Toyota pickup truck, police said.

This caused Jahanbakhsh to rear-end Hawksby's 2013 Ford.

Arel sustained a thumb injury and was taken by the Plattsburgh Fire Department to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

The passengers in her vehicle, Landon Arel, 5, and Parker Arel, 2, of Champlain, were unharmed.

Arel was issued a ticket for unsafe brakes.
