JAY — An Upper Jay man was charged with criminal contempt and intimidation of a victim May 10.
On May 8, Vincent J. Trapanese, 36, pushed and struck his mother in the face during a dispute on Springfield Road in the Town of Jay, State Police said.
Police responded at about 9 p.m. and charged Trapanese with second-degree harassment, a violation, police said.
He was arraigned in North Elba Town Court and an order of protection for his mother was issued. Trapanese was released on his own recognizance to appear in Jay Town Court on May 19.
He returned to the Springfield Road residence in the early-morning hours of May 9, forced entry into his mother’s bedroom and tried to convince her to drop the charges, threatening to kill her, police said.
Trapanese was arrested again and charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony; intimidation to a victim, a felony; third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, and first-degree harassment, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in North Elba Town Court and sent to Essex County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Trapanese was set to reappear in North Elba Town Court on May 14.
