PLATTSBURGH — Five people sustained minor injuries in a two-car accident Aug. 6.
J. Chicaschanduvi, 23, of Plattsburgh told police that shortly before 7:17 p.m., his lane of traffic had a green light when he struck a vehicle driven by Lisa Garrow, 40, of Plattsburgh.
An independent witness gave a different story than Chicaschanduvi, saying his car was eastbound on Broad Street when he drove through a red light at the intersection with Prospect Street and struck Garrow’s vehicle, which was driving southbound on Prospect Avenue at the intersection of Broad Street and Prospect, police said.
Chicaschanduvi was cited for aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and running a red light.
Both vehicles were towed from the accident site due to extensive damage to both of them, police said.
Five people were taken to CVPH Medical Center via ambulance or private vehicle for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
Chicaschanduvi is due to appear in Plattsburgh City Court on Aug. 20.
